How Topics Are Selected

We choose topics based on what everyday readers are genuinely trying to understand — recognizing phishing, deciding whether to pay for antivirus software, understanding a specific Windows security setting, or evaluating a password manager. Topics are selected for reader usefulness, not for search engine trends or advertiser interest.

How Factual Claims Are Checked

Articles are written to reflect generally accepted, well-established technical information. Where a claim concerns a specific product's current features, we favor conservative, verifiable language (such as noting that a feature "varies by plan") over specific claims we cannot confirm at the time of writing, since product features change frequently.

How Product Information Is Handled

When we describe a security product or category, our goal is to help readers understand how to evaluate it themselves — not to declare a single "best" option. We do not accept payment to rank, recommend, or favorably describe any product, and we do not include affiliate links or purchase links in our articles.

Editorial Content vs. Advertising

This site's layout includes space reserved for future advertising, which will always be visually distinguished from editorial content and clearly separated from article text and navigation. Advertising, if and when implemented, will never be designed to resemble a security alert, download button, or software update notification.

How Corrections Are Handled

How Content Is Updated

Articles are periodically reviewed and updated when the underlying information changes — for example, when a security feature is renamed, or when general best practices evolve. The "Updated" date on each article reflects the most recent substantive review.
